Chalazion
This is inflammation due to accumulated meibomian (oil) secretion in the eyelid. In its early stage, it can be treated with wet warm compresses and lid scrub. If it does not resolve, it needs to be drained surgically
Entropion
Entropion is when the lower eyelid turns inward. The lashes will rub the eye causing irritation and tearing. If left untreated, this can cause permanent scarring of the surface of the eye.
Ectropion
Ectropion is when the eyelid turns outward. This leads to tearing and inability to close the eye completely. This will cause the eye to dry up and develop ulcer.
Blepharoplasty
Blepharoplasty is to remove the excess skin of the eyelid.
Brow Lift
The eyebrows are usually situated at the level of the bony prominence above the eye. Sometimes it sags, putting pressure on the eyelid causing discomfort. Brow lift is to re-anchor the brow back to its original position.
Ptosis
The eyelid is like the Roman blinds. The cord is the tendon that pulls up the eyelid. The folded over fabric is the eyelid fold seen above the eye. The eyelid droops because the tendon that pulls the eyelid upwards is stretched. In ptosis surgery, the stretched tendon is shortened and reattached to the eyelid.
